Calm mornings and mindful conversations have taught me that great leadership is built in life’s quiet, consistent moments. Two Everyday Practices That Help Me Lead Better:

Every morning, I sit by the window where the first sunlight pours in, a cup of hot water in my hands. The warmth seeps into my body while the golden rays touch my face, and for ten quiet minutes, I do nothing but breathe. It’s in this stillness that I prepare for the storms of the day—calm mind, steady heart. This habit has taught me patience, presence, and clarity, qualities that make me a better version of myself.

Another practice is that, I’ve learned that every conversation could be the most important one in someone’s life. My habit is to always make that person feel heard when we have any discussion whether with a colleague, or family member. It shifts the tone from rushed to present, creating space for trust.

Me too! I don’t joke with water in my morning routines. It makes me feel like I have started the day by feeding my body with something essential. I also try to start my day with fruits (5 out of 7 days happen this way). These seemingly little things set the tone for my day and certainly help me be a better version of myself. Thanks for sharing Pratibha!

It’s true that caring for our body first thing in the morning naturally flows into how we show up for others. Thank you for sharing your practice

Such a beautiful reflection, for me, two morning practices that helps keep me better is having a quiet time especially just lying in my bed while reflecting on what my day was othe other day and how it’ll be.As a single mother, these past days have been emotionally exhausting and I’ve not had the time to neither focus on me . It’s been a lot juggling between work and mommy life since it’s almost the beginning of a new school year…hugs to anyone feeling exhausted, tired and struggling to balance like me these past days/week.

My days are certainly better when I have my quiet time in the morning, certainly better. I am not rushed and thus, I don’t rush others. I can always tell the difference on days when I by pass these important morning routines, the world better be careful with me that day (haha..just kidding)

I can totally relate to that! Those quiet morning moments really do set the tone for the whole day. It’s amazing how a calmer start makes us more patient with others too.

I agree Pratibha, quiet time is so important at the beginning of the day. Sometimes family life is busy in the mornings and space can be difficult to find. The two practices that I like to do involve stepping back and gaining some head space. I find time when travelling to Work listening to music. Then time for a coffee either alone or with colleagues which help me get into gear, aligning my thoughts into work mode. Ready to start the day!

It’s a great reminder that quiet time doesn’t always have to mean being at home—it can be found in little pockets throughout the day. I’m inspired by how you turn your commute and coffee into moments to realign and get ready for the day.

Here are two things that help me as a leader
                          – When possible, I start my day by doing something important from home so that when I arrive to the office I am make myself totally available for taking time to chat and take news of each collegues
                          – In a meeting, when we need to make a decision together, I try to give my opinion at the end, to make sure everybody feels free to express and that I can conclude taking in account everything that has been expressed.

Pratibha, your post is such a beautiful reminder that leadership is often built in the small, intentional moments we create for ourselves. I resonate deeply with the idea of starting the day with stillness. For me, that time is often spent in quiet reflection and prayer, grounding myself before the demands of the day and centring my heart on what truly matters. That quiet space is where I draw the patience, empathy, and clarity that I hope to bring into every interaction.

I also value being fully present in conversations, as you mentioned. Those moments of deep listening can transform not only relationships but also the trust and collaboration that make a team thrive. I have seen how the smallest acts of presence, giving someone your full attention, truly hearing their words and unspoken emotions, can make them feel valued and empowered.

Your practices are a powerful example of how simple, consistent habits can ripple far beyond our personal routines, shaping the way we lead, connect, and inspire. Thank you for sharing them so openly.

Thank you for sharing. This really spoke to me. The way you connected stillness with strength and presence with leadership feels so genuine. I could almost picture that quiet morning moment, and it reminded me how small rituals can create such deep balance. The part about mindful conversations especially resonated, as it’s often those simple acts of listening that leave the strongest mark on others.
