During my placement season, I interacted with professionals, recruiters, and peers from diverse backgrounds. Each conversation taught me something unique how to listen better, adapt my approach, and express myself with clarity and empathy. I realized that people skills aren’t just for extroverts; they’re essential for anyone who wants to grow and lead with impact. Every interaction, big or small, shapes our confidence and helps us understand perspectives beyond our own.

As women, especially in professional spaces, these interactions empower us to lead with authenticity and connection. It’s not about being perfect at communication it’s about being open to learn through people.

What about you? What have you learnt from interacting with people, and how has it helped you lead with more impact?

This really resonates, Pratibha. I’ve learnt that real power lies in genuine interactions—this is where meaningful relationships are born. I make it a point to truly connect with at least one new person at every event or even during interviews, and I always follow up with a thank-you note. Over time, I’ve also learnt to recognize when a connection is mutual or just a moment—and that’s okay. For me, communication should always flow both ways.

Agreed. In my region, networking and genuine connection often open doors, jobs, referrals, and visibility come through people who know and trust you.

It’s less about saying the perfect thing and more about staying open to learning through people.
