Many women refugees in the UK face unique leadership challenges: navigating heightened scrutiny around legitimacy, carrying deep caregiving and community responsibilities, working within under-resourced systems, and leading across cultural, institutional, and personal transitions. Too often, these pressures push women to step back from leadership or adopt approaches that feel inauthentic and unsustainable.

In response, Women Emerging launches the Expedition for UK Refugee Women, creating a space for women with lived experience of displacement to explore, define, and share ways of leading that truly resonate with who they are.
