Women Emerging receives a grant of $563,000 to redefine the way women approach leading

Women Emerging, a non-profit organization committed to supporting, inspiring and connecting women across the world as they lead, announced today that it has received a grant of $563,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

This grant will be instrumental in Women Emerging's efforts to expand its team, enabling them to facilitate and spearhead more expeditions aimed at inspiring women globally to take up leading or choose to lead more. Additionally, a portion of this grant will be allocated towards the development of a digital library of expedition resources accessible to women across the globe, further enhancing the organization's ability to provide valuable support and resources to women exploring leading.

Founded by Julia Middleton, Women Emerging believes in creating approaches to leadership that resonate with women's experiences and aspirations. Women Emerging embarked on its first expedition amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing together 24 women from around the globe. The insights and experiences gained from this pioneering expedition have been documented in Julia's book, which now serves as a guide for subsequent expeditions.

Currently, Women Emerging has three expeditions underway— in Pakistan, Nigeria, and North America. Each expedition convenes a group of women from a particular demographic or community, who over 7 months, explore leading from their unique perspective. Over the next year Women Emerging will deliver a further 12 expeditions for different communities of women across the world.

Women Emerging offers various types of expeditions, including DIY, group, and solo expeditions, making it easy for women to begin their journey, explore leading and redefine the way they lead.

"Our mission is to redefine leadership so that more women say, 'If that's leading, I'm in'.”  said Julia Middleton, founder of Women Emerging. "With this funding, we will expand our reach and impact, inspiring even more women to lead in a way that works for them. "
