An Expedition for Women Peacebuilders in Africa

Women peacebuilders in Africa face a multitude of challenges in their leadership journeys. They navigate deeply entrenched societal norms that question their capabilities, grapple with limited resources, and operate in politically unstable environments. They are often forced to adopt approaches to leading that do not resonate with them and as a result are unable to inspire others around them.

In partnership with Aurora Prize, Women Emerging will lead an expedition for women peacebuilders in Africa from May 2025 to November 2025.

The expedition will support the women in their own leading, connect them as a collective group and guide them to reframe their own approach to leading using the 4Es methodology. Women Emerging will work closely with the explorers to capture the approach and findings and create an online themed solo expedition which the explorers, partners and Women Emerging will share with women peacebuilders across the continent. Learnings of the expedition will also be shared with the wider community on the WE Hub when it launches in April 2025.
