Melissa Kwee is the third Chief Executive Officer of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). Her career has involved her bridging the public, private and community sectors as anthropologist, researcher, programme designer, social innovator and as a catalyst in the private sector. She has founded, run and served on the boards several nonprofit organisations and ground-up initiatives relating to youth, women, the arts, the prisons, community development, healthcare and education. She is also Chairman of MHPL, a Pontiac Land company.
She received the Singapore Youth Award in 2007 and Asean Youth Award 2008 for her leadership and service and was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2018.
Melissa was educated at Harvard College and graduated magna cum laude in Social Anthropology. She also received a Fulbright Scholarship to study ethnic based community leadership in Nepal.
She believes that genuine friendships are the purpose of life and is passionate about building a culture of giving and other-centeredness where people give their best for others. She enjoys family time, learning from children, peers, elders and strangers, and discovering new stories in the #cityofgood.
