Discovering Leadership Through the WE Expedition

Hi, my name is Winsoul Ubani, and I am from Nigeria. My journey through the WE expedition has been nothing short of amazing and inspiring. This expedition has taught me numerous valuable lessons that have profoundly impacted my understanding of leading and my personal growth.

One of the most significant insights I gained is the importance of being aware of my Essence. I've come to understand how the 7 pieces of Essence; Body, Ancestors, Education, Trauma, Nature, and the nurturing qualities of Motherness, have all played a role in shaping how I lead. This holistic awareness has helped me appreciate the complex tapestry of influences that contribute to who I am as a leader.

During the expedition, I also realized that there are aspects of my Essence that I need to let go of, as well as parts that I need to reframe in order to become a better leader. This process of self-reflection and transformation has been both challenging and rewarding.

Leadership, I’ve learned, is fundamentally about Energy. The type of Energy we project can significantly impact those we lead. It is crucial to strike a balance, avoiding the extremes of either denying our own Energy or adopting an entitled mindset of "I earned it, I worked for it, I deserve it." Both of these extremes can hinder our growth as leaders and transmit negative Energy to those around us.

Being a part of the WE expedition has been an adventurous experience. I had the privilege of meeting various women leaders and learning from their unique approaches to leading. This exposure broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of what it means to lead.

Before this journey, I viewed leadership as a daunting responsibility, something I was reluctant to take on. I believed it was meant for a specific set of people. However, the expedition has reshaped my view. I now understand that leadership is something we all engage in, whether consciously or unconsciously. The key is whether we lead effectively or ineffectively.

I now feel motivated to embrace leading as an opportunity to make a collective impact and support the growth of others. It’s not just about leading; it’s about creating a positive ripple effect that benefits everyone involved.

If you’re considering stepping into a role that requires leading, I highly recommend joining the Women Emerging expedition. This movement offers a unique path to discover and nurture the great leader within you. Embrace the adventure, learn from diverse experiences, and make a lasting impact.
